World of Warcraft: Emolol: "best chance to finish first"

By: Alex Nguyen - Published October 18, 2008 at 9:23 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Emolol discusses the event thus far, including their matches against aAa and SK, and what's in store for the team in the future.

So we talked to Celex earlier and he was fairly confident that you guys would make it to the brackets. Did you expect to make it up to the Upper Bracket finals as the patch has changed around so many things?

I think all the teams here were pretty confident with all the new buffs, nobody really knew what to expect because it's literally like a new game now. I felt confident with the new PMR buffs and specs to try and to say I didn't expect to get top 4 would be a lie, i;m not trying to sound cocky though haha, I think everyone felt that way about their comp. with the exception of EG.

Who was your toughest opponent yet moving into the brackets against x6tence, aAa and SK?

For sure SK, they're one of the best PMR's we've played against and we all have a ton of respect for them. It just sucks that mirror matches are based on openers and they got 2 saps on me. After the game Xom came up to shake my hand and said, "sorry about your luck man".

Talk us through your match vs SK.gaming as you faced off in the Upper Bracket Finals. What went wrong that cost you the rounds.

PMR is all about the opener like i mentioned before, and SK got 2 saps on me and I LOS'd Ely one game so, what can you do? haha

Now breakdown your Lower Bracket Finals match vs aAa. You guys played against them in group play where you actually had a mirror match with the RMP comp. Was it the same scenario and how did the match play out? Were you expecting another RMP mirror match and was it a more dominating match now that you guys understood how they played their comp?

aAa is a great team and we expected to play vs. their PMR and we had some of the closest tournament matches ever, every game that we won came down to a 3v2 -> 2v2 -> 1v1. Very intense and exciting games.

This will be your third Grand Finals in three straight events, including both MLG Orlando and Dallas, do you think you guys finally have enough experience to take down SK and place first for once?

Without fnatic in the tournament to knock is down to 2nd, I think this is our best chance to finally get a 1st place finish haha.

Are you, like Celex, happy of how your well your RMP comp did in this event?

For sure, we had no practice coming into this event because of server issues and all the traveling so I can't complain with how we're doing.

Now that you'll have a small break before the next WoW tourney after this weekend, what will you guys be exploring alot when it comes to specs and classes and synergy of comps?

Yeah, it's going to be a ton of fun seeing how the game evolves from here. I really hope that damage doesn't scale like this at 80.
