World of Warcraft: Grand Final Wrapup, SK comments

The Grand Finals of ESL Montreal saw Gravitas Gaming taking on SK Gaming.
The Grand Finals of ESL Montreal saw Gravitas Gaming taking on SK Gaming. This was the third time Gravitas had seen the Grand Finals, in three straight events, however they have yet to finish first.

Coming from the lower bracket, Gravitas would need to win two series consecutively to take home the Montreal title.

They didn't have a great start, as they tried a new comp - Rogue, Ret Pally, Priest. Celex was sapped halfway across the map, and Ely died early, giving the first game to SK.

Heading into the fourth game, SK has a 2-1 lead and a chance to close out the tournament. They focused down Celex, but he was able to get off a block and was healed up. Gravitas countered by taking down Xom to tie up the first series. They won the final game with ease to put them at even grounds with SK.

The second series started out much like the first. Emolol fell early, but Gravitas didn't give up right away as Xom was low. They weren't able to pull it out though and yet again SK took a 1-0 lead.

Gravitas however wasn't shaken as they roared their way to a 2-1 lead. Emolol had a 4K crit to win the second game, and laughed in disbelief. They were well on their way to their first tournament win.

The final two games were extremely similar. Both teams put their focus on the rogues, and traded kills. This resulted in a ten minute 2v2 mage priest situation. SK was able to come out on top after the long dragged out 2v2 battles, clinching the first place prize.

Celex was so disappointed they placed second again, he smashed his 5HV2 over the AlienWare laptop that was being used for the tournament. The headset shattered, and the laptop cracked through the back all the way through to the monitor, killing the video.

Team SK

Interview with Xom and Orly of SK

Could you break down the Grand Finals match, what were the key points of the match for your team?

Xom: Basically, due to how silly RMP mirrors are in this patch, we secretly agreed to trade rogue kills and let the best mage priest win ;]
Orly: I started off the first set of games with extremely poor play and really should have been doing a better job keeping everyone up. Apart from that though I agree with xom RMP mirrors are a complete mess now and in half of the games you'll end up trading kills because of how the dps in 3.0 is.

You guys lost the first series in a close 3-2, and found yourselves down 2-1 in the second. How were you able to come back from that to take first place?

Orly: We just tried to stay calm and not try anything too risky again. It came down to 2v2s and our experience with the comp helped us come out on top.

In at least three different games, it came down to a 2v2 between the priests and mages, and you guys came out on top every time. How were you able to do so?

Orly: Another and I have been playing Mage Priest together for a very long time so that definitely helped us out. We were able to successfully alternate CC and keeping them in combat so the other could get some sips of drink in. Although we were ahead of mana almost all the time, it took some time to get enough mana to finish them off.

What are your feelings on the new patch so far, and how do you feel it effected the outcome of the tournament?

Xom: made this tourney EXTREMELY RANDOM AND CHAOTIC.
Orly: mutilate is retarded lol

Now that you've won ESL Montreal, what's in store for your team in the future?

Orly: There aren't any tournaments planned in the near future so for now well just keep practicing our rmp lineup on live and adapt to the patch changes.

Any shoutouts you would like to give out?

Orly: Zombies, Nihilum and anyone else out there thats been rooting for us!
