World of Warcraft: BlizzBlog 2009 Goodie Bag Breakdown

GotFrag's Coverage Director Nick Bee takes an item by item look at this year's BlizzCon goodie bag.

(GotFrag) - This year at BlizzCon there is more than enough to look forward to. Whether you're aiming to watch one of the three professional tournaments, get your hands on the playable Diablo III demo, play a scrim of StarCraft II, or just awkwardly eyeball the people dressed as your favorite WoW character, there are plenty of reasons for fans to covet the trip to Blizzcon.

However, the one singular purpose that motivates the vast majority of attendees year after year is handed out in little bags on registration day. Inside lies a treasure trove of toys, stickers, figurines and, appropriately enough, hygiene products all related to the Blizzard universe.

Some enterprising attendees ebay off their gifts in a matter of minutes for a couple hundred dollars, others sprint home to immediately unlock their exclusive in-game pet and take a nap because they just sprinted for the first time in 2009.

I just got my hands on my own and thought I would do a little run-down of the loot and give all of you a look at what all the hype is about. Stay tuned to GotFrag all weekend as I blog my way through, delivering the goods on Blizzcon.

A. This is the mac-daddy of the gift bag. A half-foot tall figurine of Starcraft character Jim Raynor. He can only be obtained at the event during registration.

B. This unassuming card is probably the biggest reason to snag a goodie bag and easily the most sought after of all gifts. There does not appear to be a beta key on this year's card as their was on 2008's.

C. The Blizzard Authenticator is a device that when hooked up to a PC, can be linked to a specific WoW account. From that point on the account can not be accessed without the authenticator in place. Keeps those pesky chinese gold farmers at bay.

D. It's a bookmark with a Wizard. Has details about a quest called "Catch me if you Can".

E. BlizzCon 2009 branded instant hand sanitizer. If Blizzard is trying to send a message, they aren't exactly the masters of subtlety.

F. World of Warcraft Magazine, basically a smaller (read: promo) version of their quarterly publication.

G. A key that can be used at the SteelSeries booth to potentially unlock a World of Warcraft "chest", and win "epic loot".

H. A map of the entire event. An entirely necessary addition to the bag as BlizzCon spans four of the most massive halls I've ever seen a gaming event held in.
