A new playable class and a near complete transformation of Azeroth are among the reveals at BlizzCon's opening ceremonies.

GotFrag.com - After a brief introduction by one of Blizzard's lead artists, Mike Moreheim President of Blizzard came on stage and greeted everyone to some big applause. He was pretty psyched about StarCraft II winning the Best of GamesCon in Germany.

He remarked that when BlizzCon tickets went on sale this year, if you weren't in the queue within 30 seconds, you had missed your chance. They sold out of all 20,000 tickets within one minute. He then made some sassy remark comparing that to the speed of a Ret Paladin hitting the forums to complain about a nerf. Many lols followed.

A slide show detailing highlights in Blizzard's past year, touching on the world wide release of Wrath of the Lich King, the clips proved that wherever Blizzard launches a product, a horde of worshipers will gather to line up for days dressed as blood elves.

The only boos so far came when be started to talk about the past year's adjustments to the server transfer system

He brought up the release of the Armory to a general round of applause.

He confirmed StarCraft II for next year (okay Blizzard), and mentioned that the new director of the World of Warcraft feature movie.

Moreheim told the audience a little bit about the three tournaments going on in Warcraft III, Starcraft and World of Warcraft.

Apparently the figurine within the goodie bag will only ever be available from attending the event, will never be made public, and never be reproduced. The comedian in him then came out again: "They are yours to treasure forever... or sell on ebay for the price of a small car, but I know you would never do that." Again, lols ensued.

The Vice President of Blizzard then took the stage.

When he came on stage, he thanked the fans, a standout comment to me was him acknowledging that Blizzard fans do infact have to wait half a decade for pretty much any game they announce, so that was nice. Can I has StarCraft II now?

Drawing upon the obvious elephant in the room, he called upon the congregation to cheer for their respective WoW factions. A chair or two was thrown.

He comments on Diablo III making large ammounts of progress before letting everyone know he was about to reveal a new detail. Keep in mind that Blizzard likes to let details about upcoming games drip out to the public so that each individual gameplay mechanic creates as much hype as most games do for their entire title.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!

What everyone has been waiting for was then uttered like the release of the answer to life, the universe, and everything. The next playable class in Diablo III will be the Monk!

This guy is basically like Jackie Chan, if Jackie Chan fought demons and the general concentrations of evil. After the cinematic trailer where he beat the crap out of a nasty looking diablo-esque character, some in-games clips of the Monk in action were shown. From the looks of it, he is a strong hand-to-hand fighter with the ability to use pole-arms and apparently has abilities that are strong against undead.

At that point, all 10~15k were enraptured by the gift just bestowed to them by a guy in jeans and a button up designer shirt with glasses only he and Bono can pull off.

But wait, theres more....

SUPER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!

They put on the big screen, for the first time ever, the trailer for the new WoW expansion Cataclysm would be shown. The kid next to me about pooped his pants. I now sit one seat to the left.

I'll be posting a more detailed report on that soon, but suffice it to say that the changes to Azeroth are drastic. Personally I think the Worgans and the Goblins look pretty badass too.
